"WE'RE JUST GETTING STARTED!"

POST INVASION
3004 A.D.

The vast majority of humanity survived the attack, for better or worse. Many were sent off to work on planets and asteroids as unpaid laborers. Others were sent to planets under Monsoros control or stayed aboard large prison ships, awaiting whatever fate had in store for them.

The daily lives of the humans and other aliens living aboard the prison ships was neither easy nor pleasant. Although their habitat was minimum security, sectioned off from the Monsoros crew, they lived tightly packed together with minimal provisions, just enough to survive. Although it was possible to stay with one’s family and friends, it was by no means guaranteed.

The prisoners were sorted into two sections: children under ten, and older children and adults. All of them underwent horrific experimentation, for many resulting in death or disfigurement. Within the prison, all worked, kept busy with labor, not enough time and energy to attempt disobedience. Some teens and adults would be randomly selected to fight in the arena for the amusement of the Monsoros and their affiliates, no care given to their well-being.

Earth, meanwhile, had been left desolate, a small percentage of the population left to fend for themselves. Those left on the planet soon found themselves as labor used to harvest the planet of its resources for the Monsoros. Humanity had lost its home.

THE GARRISON
3014 A.D.

For those few lucky enough to be rescued and smuggled away from Monsoros hands, home became the Light. These individuals were young, only teenagers, chosen for their strength of character and quick reflexes. Roughly three hundred humans joined the ranks.

The Light's academy was sorted into five schools of study, one for each of the roles aboard the mechs: Command, Engineering, Offensive Piloting, Defensive Piloting, and Communications. In addition, all cadets share classes covering more basic concepts, ground combat, and mech piloting. Squads were formed as early as possible, allowing the five cadets to go through their studies together before eventually being given command of their mechs.

The squads live together, sharing quarters on one end of the Light. Each room contains five beds, two desks, and five pods containing their mech suits. The training grounds, cafeteria, and academy take up the majority of the other end of the ship. Command, engineering, and administration are located in the middle.

MECHA
3014 A.D.

Each squad is made up of a set of robots in the shape of an animal, unique to that squad. The animal is built to be piloted by an individual cadet, allowing them to fly solo as well as merge into a large, humanoid mech. By themselves, a cadet operates their own mech fairly similarly, but when they form together, the cadets take on the unique roles that they have trained for in the academy. Cadets are expected to have a thorough grasp of the handling of their robots as well as their role in the humanoid mech.

For the animal mechs, each may have a slightly different temperament. The Garrison is highly skilled in pairing cadets with a compatible mech, but an adjustment period is still expected. Despite the obvious advantages of engaging with enemies within the robot, some ground combat is inevitable.
